NOTE: The parts where Yuna is singing for Noctis’ birthday and the fact that Leona Lewis’ my hands was written by Garnet in dedication to her deceased mother is famade by ME! This HAS NOT HAPPENED IN THE STORY….YET! [hoping lol]

It’s Prince Noctis’ birthday and a band known as, The Zanarkands consisting of Yuna,Tidus,Rikku,Wakka and Lulu are performing for him alongside songstress Lenne. Rumors whisper that Noctis will propose to Stella at the party but will he?

Noctis’ friends, Riku,Sora,Ignis and employees like Kairi and Garnet are all invited. Tifa, who serves as a motherly figure to Garnet searches the party to find her. Yuna tells them that before she sings what was planned, she wants to sing a song her friend wrote which was left behind when she moved out. Hearing this caught Garnet’s attention. She uses to live with The Zanarkands when she moved into the city. Yuna goes on to say that the song was written about how she lost someone important and reminded everyone to never take one another for granted. Garnet knows this is a song she wrote, a song she wrote for her beloved deceased mother. Noctis and Sora guess that its Garnet’s song due to the fact that The Zanarkands were found by Noctis because of Garnet. This is of interest to both Sora and Noctis since Garnet is shrouded in mystery. Garnet’s song begins with Yuna’s beautiful, angelic voice. During that time, Tifa pauses and takes in the beautiful melody. It all begins and the memories flood back in.

-Garnet lived in the slums with her mother. There she befriended Tifa and Cloud. Her mother, Ashe was very ill and could not afford medicine. Bedridden, Ashe and Garnet had to ask many other families for money so that Ashe could buy her prescriptions. As Ashe stayed in bed, Tifa looked after Garnet and quickly grew attached. She would attend Garnet as she played the violin. The expected day came and Garnet was prepared, Ashe was urging towards eternal slumber. Her body weak, worn and stressed from staying for this long even with all of her pain, she whispers her final words:

“Please do not cry when I’m gone. You must stay strong, Stay Alive”

Garnet did not shed a tear at the funeral and rather couldn’t. She ignored her pain and focuses on paying all the money she owed those families so her mother could rest in peace. Cloud suggested that Garnet moves into the city because there are tons of jobs. But, Tifa disagrees because of worry. However, Cloud and Garnet set off on his motorcycle. Her mother’s death was something she moved past but did not forget. However, neither did she cope.
Going back into the party, every word was related to her feelings about her mother. Each memory along the way from her death came pouring in like a film. Garnet doesn’t want to hear the song for it brought her back to a dark,sad place. But she stays and sighs. Noctis caught a glimpse of her appearing “upset” but remains silent.
-Shortly after, She befriended Yuna,Rikku,Wakka,Lulu and Tidus. She also accidentally met Noctis at a park. She remembers how she then chose to work for Noctis as an umbrella assistant due to the acidic rain. But quickly was repositioned to a different job for her safety. She met Sora at a ball, Kairi became her best friend and slowly she had fallen for Noctis…

**As Lenne sings the lyrics, she is reminded of her sick little sister who is her world and sheds a few silent tears.

**- Stella relates the song to her feelings towards Noctis, someone who she feels she is losing.

As the end of the song draws near, Garnet is filled with sadness. Sora and Kairi notice and turn to her but do not say anything.She never cried, never had time to think about her mother. She shut all of those feelings out in order to be happy. Was she truly happy? Or was it a mask; All a lie in order to appear strong to make it all on her own.
Garnet them remembers A time when she was really young, her mother took her to watch the annual firework festival. Her mother’s final words came pouring in and Garnet felt like her heart was about to burst. How could she have been such a fool? Her mother was the only thing she had. Tears flowed from her eyes. Soon after, she felt someone grabs her hands. She reopens her eyes and sees a reassuring Tifa. Garnet blocks out everyone that surrounds her and lets her tears fall; tears she had held in for so long.
Noctis turns and watches as a sobbing Garnet is embraced by a black haired woman. Yuna ends the song, filled with her own heart ache.
